Companies that Kill it on Social Media

Image
Straight up, I am going to just say Wendy's. Wendy's is absolutely killing it. They way they utilize twitter is pure genius. Obviously they are using humor to build a huge and free fanbase. People then like or retweet it and that just adds to the views. If you were to google 'wendys twitter', you would find so many articles about how the company is using their Twitter in humorous ways. Here is an example: They have messed with other fast food chains and even individuals on twitter. This is giving them a lot of free attention.  Especially in the world we live in where a lot of people don't watch TV and some of the ones that do, forward through the commercials. Wendy's Facebook game is on point as well.  It has taken a less comedically approach, but has taken to a different strategy to gain attention. They have asked questions to gain a response from it's customers and page fans. Here is a rather good article that shows just how in depth they have gone and...

Interesting TedTalk

Image
I  just watched a very interesting Ted Talk about the space junk that orbit earth. I have always been interested in this.  I remember watching a video about space debris when I was in elementary school. With each year it becomes and increasing problem with more and more being added to the earth’s orbit. https://www.ted.com/talks/natalie_panek_let_s_clean_up_the_space_junk_orbiting_earth Space junk is becoming an increasing problem with more satellites being added every year and old ones dying off being added to the pile of garbage that circles the earth. This all even makes space exploration more difficult because aerospace organizations have to find windows where debris won’t strike the aircraft that is trying to leave the earth. Natalie gives an amazing analogy about your car breaking down on a busy highway and how that affects traffic. Explaining how you are able to get your car out of the way via pushing it aside or having it towed but there are no such way...

iPhone Batteries and Speed

I'm sure for most that this is a one sided debate that what Apple did with the iPhone slowdowns because of the old batteries.  I am sure for most, it is all wrong.  I agree, but playing devils advocate a bit, I get what Apple did. My argument isn't that they should have not done that, they should have been more transparent. Customers should have been informed about it and given the option to turn it off and decide what their phone does.  This way it came off as a greedy slowdown to make people upgrade. The shady part is where they made all of the phones slow down. Even the ones with good batteries. Basically they should have done everything that they are doing now, but before. Not do it after they are caught. https://soundcloud.com/happy-hour-podcast/living-with-alexa-iphone-batteries-and-speed-and-ios-apps-back-to-the-mac

What am I doing?

I have always been interested in computers and networking but pursued a different career. That career isn't what it used to be and now I am looking for a change. I am happy to be in this program at MATC and look forward to taking all of these classes. I already have some experience under my belt. I grew up with a computer and fiddled around with it (even broke it a few times) to learn how it all works. Other than that, I was in a program before where we had to learn about computers and I have even built one already, so that makes taking these initial courses easier.  Outside of these classes, I have been watching a lot of youtube videos about networking and setting up servers. I have even set up a server at my house for fun. It is nothing major though. It is nice having a hard drive on a network for sharing files between computers. Anyways, this has all been a blast, but I have to go. Thanks for reading my gibberish.

Just getting started

Here I am, setting all of this up and looking forward to beginning a new chapter. It's been nice so far at MATC. I started last semester with one class just to ease into thing and now I am taking three more. ITNET 107 and ITSUP 102 to finish off the first part of the program, along with Social Networking and Business, Which is why Im here doing this. Pretty fun classes and I look forward to continuing this experience.
